DC Kargil gives update on Coronavirus preparedness

Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, DC Kargil inspected isolation and quarantine facilities set up at GNM Nursing School and Polytechnic College Kargil on March 11.

He inquired from the doctors about the status of quarantine and screening of the patients at these centers.

Interacting with the media, Baseer ul Haq Choudhary said that for containment and management of Coronavirus in the district among other necessary measures, isolation and quarantine wards have been established under the supervision of senior specialized doctors who are thoroughly monitoring the condition of suspected patients.

He informed that the quarantine centre has at present 90 bed capacity which will be extended up to 200 beds in the coming days as per requirements. While the isolation ward has 60 bed capacity and 30 beds are ready.

He further added that out of the 5 patients in the isolation ward whose samples were sent to Delhi, 3 have tested negative while the reports of rest 2 are awaited.

Baseer ul Haq Chaudhary appealed to the public not to panic and maintain calm. He also urged the media not to circulate any news or information related to COVID-19 in the district unless it is verified from the District Administration.  He advised people to abstain from spreading rumors and those spreading false information thereby disturbing public order will be dealt with strictly as per law.
