Training program on listing of historical, heritage sites held in Kargil

Department of Tourism and Culture UT Ladakh in collaboration with Rural Development Department (RDD) Ladakh and NIC Ladakh conducted a one-day training program for Block Development Officers (BDOs), Panchayat Secretaries for the listing of heritage sites on ‘The Ladakh Heritage App’ on January 15.

Director, RDD UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi said that the training program has been initiated on the directions of Lieutenant Governor Ladakh and it will be instrumental in the listing of heritage sites and documentation of village history in the Kargil district. He directed that after the completion of training, concerned officers assigned should do listing of locations, photography, geo-tagging, and upload the data on the website.

The director RDD said that a sub-committee at village level will also be framed regarding village history documentation and from 17 to 21 January, the trial listing will be done and after that, all assigned works must be completed at the earliest.

DIO, National Informatics centre Kargil, Iftikhar Hussain conducted the training session on the use of ‘The Ladakh Heritage App’. He detailed participants about the operation of the mobile application for listing, documentation of heritage sites, and village history across the district.
