Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, on January 20, flagged off the Under-19 Boys’ Handball Team to represent Ladakh in the 69th National School Games, scheduled to be held in Gujarat from January 26 to 31.

A total of 15 students will represent Ladakh at the national level, including nine players from Kargil district and six players from Leh district.

During a brief interaction with the players, the ADC encouraged them and highlighted the importance of participation in national-level sports events. He said that exposure through travel and competition helps broaden perspectives and build confidence. He urged the players to uphold discipline and sportsmanship and to bring recognition to Kargil and the entire Ladakh region wherever they compete.

Emphasising that sports is about learning as much as competition, the ADC said that both winning and losing are integral parts of the game. He also called upon the players to act as ambassadors of the district in the fight against the drug menace, stressing the vital role of youth in building a healthy and drug-free society.

Wishing the team success in the national championship, the ADC assured them of the administration’s support. On the occasion, Physical Education Master Ibrahim Shoqi, Coach Master Hussain, and other officials were present.
