Paying tribute to the legendary heroism of late Mahavir Chakra recipient Col Sonam Wangchuk, MVC, the Gunners of the Fire and Fury Corps have launched a white-water rafting expedition along the Zanskar River on August 1, navigating the challenging 154-km stretch from Padum to Nimu.
The expedition was formally flagged off in the presence of Dechen and Rinchen, sisters of the late war hero.

Braving freezing temperatures, roaring rapids, and extreme high-altitude conditions, the troops will demonstrate the same indomitable grit, physical endurance, and tactical courage that defined Col Wangchuk's heroic legacy during the Battle of Chorbat La in the Kargil War.

The high-adventure expedition highlights the Indian Army's unwavering spirit of adventure and operational readiness in some of the world's most challenging terrains. The journey stands as a fitting tribute to Col Wangchuk's timeless legacy of valor, embodying the Fire and Fury Corps' core values of courage, commitment, and selfless service to the nation.
