UT Ladakh reviews arrangements for Parliamentary standing committee visit

Secretary Rural Development and Nodal Officer UT Ladakh, Shashanka Ala, chaired a review meeting to finalise arrangements for the upcoming visit of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, scheduled from September 5 to 7.
The meeting focused on comprehensive planning for the Committee’s travel, accommodation, security, and protocol. As the delegation will be arriving by road, the Secretary stressed meticulous coordination to ensure comfort and convenience from the start of their journey. She directed officials to prepare suitable resting points along the route, including locations showcasing Ladakh’s monasteries and cultural heritage.
Special instructions were issued to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, to ensure a smooth welcome and robust security during the Committee’s one-day stay in Kargil. The Secretary emphasised that from Sonamarg onwards, Ladakh will assume full responsibility for the delegation’s safety and hospitality. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was tasked with preparing a detailed schedule for their jurisdiction and ensuring seamless arrangements.
Hotels and identified visit sites were instructed to maintain the highest standards of service, while coordination between the Army in Kargil and Ladakh Police was underscored to ensure security. The Secretary also reviewed all logistical and protocol requirements with the Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police of Leh and Kargil to avoid any lapses.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Leh, Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Kargil, Senior Superintendent of Police Security, SSP Leh and Kargil, Director Social Welfare Department UT Ladakh, Director Rural Development and Panchayati Raj UT Ladakh, Director Tourism UT Ladakh, Director Health and Medical Education UT Ladakh, Director Information UT Ladakh, Joint Director Hospitality and Protocol, Joint Director Food UT Ladakh, Regional Transport Officer UT Ladakh, Superintendent of Police Traffic UT Ladakh, Joint Director PD\&MD UT Ladakh, and a representative from ITBP.
