Two-day camel health checkup and awareness camp held at Hunder sand dunes 208 camels examined; 183 certified fit for safari

A two-day health checkup and awareness camp for camels and camel herders of Hunder village concluded on June 14 at the Camel Safari site, Hunder Sand Dunes. The camp was organised by the Animal Husbandry Department, under the Block Veterinary Officer (BVO), Nubra.
A team led by Dr. Mutup Angmo (BVO Nubra), along with Dr. Roufal Hussan (LDO Nubra), Dr. Tsewang Youdol (MVU Nubra), and other officials, examined a total of 208 camels for both infectious and non-infectious diseases.
Health certificates were issued to 183 camels found fit for safari operations. All 208 camels were also dewormed as part of the preventive healthcare effort.
The camel herders received awareness on disease management, first-aid practices, and camel care. First-aid medicines were also distributed during the camp to support ongoing health maintenance of the animals.
