National-level training program for booth level officers begins in Leh

A week-long National Training Program for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) commenced at the Panchayat Hall, Agling, Leh on July 8 under the supervision of the District Election Officer (DEO), Leh. The training, aimed at strengthening the electoral process at the grassroots level, will continue till July 15, 2025.
The inaugural session began with a welcome address by Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) Ghulam Mohammad (ADC Leh), who emphasized the critical role BLOs play in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of electoral rolls.
Chief Electoral Officer (In-charge), Sonam Chosjor, appreciated the dedication of BLOs and highlighted the importance of their field-level responsibilities, such as door-to-door voter verification, updating electoral rolls, and encouraging public participation in the democratic process. He also stressed the significance of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and the need for effective coordination between BLOs and BLAs to ensure clean and inclusive electoral rolls.
The training focused on key BLO duties, including house-to-house verification, addition and deletion of voter names, corrections in voter details, and facilitating new voter registrations. Participants were also briefed on their role in spreading electoral awareness, especially among marginalized communities.
Interactive sessions were conducted by Chozin Palmo, State Level Master Trainer (SLMT - Ladakh), along with resource persons Kunzang Dolma and Kunzes Angmo. These sessions, supported by PowerPoint presentations, aimed to equip BLOs with practical knowledge, field-level procedures, and ethical standards in conducting election duties.
The first batch of training was specifically for BLOs from Neymo Tehsil, who participated with enthusiasm and commitment. Certificates were distributed at the end of the session to acknowledge the participants’ active involvement and preparedness to fulfill their responsibilities efficiently.
In line with the Election Commission’s guidelines, the training is being conducted in batches of 50 participants per session, including BLOs, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and BLO Supervisors to facilitate interactive and meaningful engagement.
The District Election Office reiterated its commitment to building a robust and transparent electoral system through continuous capacity building and support for field-level election staff.
The first day of the program was attended by approximately 50 participants, including Assistant CEO Deleks Namgyal, Deputy District Election Officer Padma Angmo, BLO Supervisors, Booth Level Officers, and other election officials.
