Leh gears up for 3rd Climate Cup Football Tournament in Sept 2025

Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, chaired a preparatory meeting for the upcoming 3rd edition of the Climate Cup Football Tournament 2025 at the Council Secretariat, Leh.
The meeting reviewed key arrangements for the tournament—including team participation, logistics, branding, and preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies. Scheduled for the first week of September in Leh, the Climate Cup has evolved into one of the UT’s flagship events, combining sporting spirit with a strong message of sustainability and environmental awareness.
Speaking at the meeting, CEC Gyalson said the Climate Cup is a significant initiative for Ladakh, serving the dual purpose of promoting football and reinforcing environmental responsibility. Highlighting the vulnerability of Ladakh and the greater Himalayan region to climate change, he underscored the importance of such events in spreading awareness. “The Climate Cup is not just a sports tournament but also a campaign for sustainability. Initiatives like promoting EVs to reduce carbon footprints must be expanded with greater vision and collective effort,” he stated, urging all stakeholders to support the event wholeheartedly.
The CEC also directed the Chief Medical Officer to ensure ambulance services and medical facilities are on standby throughout the tournament. He further instructed ALHGHA, ALTOA, LTTA, and other associations, along with concerned departments, to extend full cooperation to ensure the success of the event.
