Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, paid heartfelt homage to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation at the Drass War Memorial on August 28. Accompanied by his wife, Bindu Gupta, the First Lady of Ladakh, he offered floral tributes at the memorial and observed a moment of silence in honour of the martyrs.

The couple turned emotional with moist eyes while witnessing the Soldiers’ Last Letters and photographs preserved in the Hut of Remembrance at the War Memorial.

Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor said the Drass War Memorial stands as a sacred site of remembrance and a symbol of the indomitable spirit of the Indian Armed Forces. “The supreme sacrifices made by our bravehearts will forever inspire generations to uphold the ideals of duty, honour, and nation first,” he said.

Reiterating the UT administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of soldiers, veterans, and their families, Gupta stressed that it is the collective duty of the nation to honour their service and sacrifice.

The visit concluded with the Lt Governor and his wife interacting with Army personnel and expressing gratitude for their steadfast service in safeguarding the nation’s frontiers.
