Khaltse joins hands to keep Indus River clean

In line with the decision of the LAHDC Leh, led by Chief Executive Councillor Adv. Tashi Gyalson, a cleanliness drive along the Indus River was launched in Khaltse Sub Division on August 12.
The programme began with a briefing on the significance of the initiative, followed by the felicitation of workers and drivers engaged under SRMC. They were honoured with traditional khatags and incentives from the Sub Divisional Administration, Khaltse, in recognition of their dedicated service to the Sub Division Headquarters.
The rally commenced from the SDM Office, Khaltse, covering various stretches along the Indus River. At the Headquarters, Lamberdar of Khaltse, Stanzin Phurboo, along with personnel from the GREF and Army, were present. Specific areas were assigned to respective teams, and the drive was simultaneously conducted along the riverbanks in every village of the Sub Division.
Addressing the gathering, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mohd Sharif emphasised that protecting the Indus River’s environment is a shared responsibility and urged participants to maintain cleanliness beyond the duration of the drive.
The event saw active participation from all Sub Divisional officers and officials, the Lamberdar, and personnel from the Army and GREF. The programme concluded with a pledge to protect and preserve the cleanliness of the Indus River.
