EJM College marks World Suicide Prevention Day with awareness programme

The Department of Psychology, EJM College, observed World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10 at the MP Hall with a series of events aimed at raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting mental well-being. This year’s theme, as declared by IASP and WHO, was “Changing the Narrative on Suicide.”

The event featured a soulful performance by the EJM College Band, a skit titled, “Behind the Silence” portraying unseen struggles and resilience, and a dance performance celebrating life and expression.

Addressing the gathering, Kunzes Dolma, Clinical Psychologist spoke on suicide prevention, highlighting warning signs, coping strategies, and the importance of empathy and communication. An interactive Q&A session allowed students and faculty to engage in open dialogue on mental health.

The observance concluded with participants expressing that the event left them more aware, connected, and hopeful, reinforcing the message of supporting one another and valuing life.
