Delegation of former LBA Block Presidents meets Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta

A delegation of former Block Presidents of the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) from various regions met Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, at the LG Secretariat on July 19. The delegation extended a warm welcome and expressed their heartfelt gratitude upon his recent assumption of office in the Union Territory.

The delegates conveyed their optimism regarding the Lieutenant Governor’s tenure and lauded the Government of India and the UT Administration for the historic announcement of five new districts in Ladakh—Sham, Nubra, Changthang, Drass, and Zanskar.

They further highlighted the vast tourism and hydropower potential across the region and urged the LG to prioritise development in these sectors. The delegation also requested the swift implementation and formalisation of the newly announced districts to ensure smooth governance and accelerated regional progress.

In response, Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta assured the delegation of the administration’s commitment to fast-tracking development across all regions of Ladakh. He emphasised that equitable and inclusive growth will remain a top priority under his leadership.

Commissioner/Secretary to the LG, Dr. L Franklin, IAS, and several former LBA representatives—including Phunchok Sonam (Chumathang), Tashi Gyaltson (Nyoma), Tsering Nurboo (Khaltse), Stanzin Dorjay (Sham), Tashi Namgyal (Garkhon), Phuntsog (Darchik), and Nurboo (Nubra)—were also present during the meeting.
