Deputy Commissioner Leh, Romil Singh Donk (IAS), convened a review meeting at the VC Room of DC Office, Leh on September 9  to assess the progress of saturation programs under PMJAY, Aadhaar, Ration Cards, and Golden Cards.

During the meeting, DC Leh directed officers to highlight challenges in implementation and propose corrective measures. Key issues discussed included low registration numbers for Aadhaar, Ration Cards, and Golden Cards, technical glitches in online portals, and difficulties faced by Army personnel and ex-servicemen in accessing services.

It was noted that Aadhaar enrollment is mandatory for individuals above five years of age, and it serves as a prerequisite for the issuance of Ration Cards and Golden Cards, which are provided exclusively to Ladakh residents.

DC Leh instructed the Chief Education Officer, Deldan Angmo, to compile school-wise data on students’ Aadhaar enrollment status, while the Food & Civil Supplies Department was tasked with conducting a village-wise survey to identify households without ration cards. He emphasized that all data must be submitted in the next review meeting, after which targeted campaigns will be launched to achieve 100% coverage.

Chief Planning Officer Leh, Tsewang Gyalson, suggested organizing awareness campaigns at hospital OPDs to sensitize patients and visitors about the benefits of PMJAY and Golden Cards.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment, DC Leh stressed the importance of coordinated efforts across departments to ensure that the benefits of these welfare schemes reach every eligible resident of Ladakh.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Leh, Chief Planning Officer Leh, Chief Education Officers, Chief Medical Officers, and officials from Food & Civil Supplies, UIDAI, and NIC.
