Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, convened a comprehensive review meeting with Block Development Officers (BDOs) of the Zanskar Division on July 23 to assess the progress of ongoing developmental works under various schemes including the Capex Budget, CCDA, MGNREGA, and other state sector initiatives.

During the meeting, the DC directed concerned officers to submit a detailed inventory of all ongoing and proposed works, clearly categorized under respective schemes with their current status and expected timelines for completion. Special focus was given to the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), with the DC seeking updates on the availability and functionality of segregation vehicles and other sanitation infrastructure.

DC Rakesh Kumar emphasized the importance of reassessing project estimates to ensure transparency, feasibility, and optimal fund utilization. He also stressed the need for quality execution and announced plans for on-site inspections and random verifications during his next visit to the region.

In regard to the education sector, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Zanskar, to prepare a comprehensive report covering key indicators such as the student-teacher ratio, school infrastructure status, dropout rates, academic performance, and areas needing targeted intervention.

The meeting was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar Mohammad Hassan, ZEPO Education Tsewang Dorjay, BDO Lungnak Tundup Dorjay, BDO Zanskar Mohd Ali, and AEE REW Samina Ali.
