DC Kargil inaugurates 3-day Mobile Passport Van service

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse inaugurated a three-day Mobile Passport Van Service in Kargil on June 16, aimed at facilitating passport-related services for residents of Kargil district at their doorstep.

The inaugural event was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kargil, Shri Ram R, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, Regional Passport Officer (RPO) Srinagar, BS Rawat, Headquarter Assistant to DC Kargil, Kaneez Fatima, Chairman Hajj Committee UT Ladakh, Mohd Ali Majaz, Member Hajj Committee UT Ladakh, Mohd Ali Chandan, and officials from the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).

Speaking to media persons, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the Kargil administration is committed to bringing essential public services closer to the people. “This mobile passport van is a great initiative to ensure residents no longer need to travel to Leh or Srinagar for passport services. This three-day campaign is a pilot run, and we have requested the RPO to conduct such camps on a monthly basis,” he said.

He further informed that the district administration is actively working with RPO Srinagar to establish a full-fledged Passport Seva Kendra in Kargil.
RPO Srinagar, BS Rawat, stated that the mobile passport van is part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ doorstep delivery initiative. “We are committed to expanding our outreach and ensuring passport services reach even the remotest parts of the region. More such initiatives will be undertaken in the future,” he assured.

Chairman, Hajj Committee Ladakh, Mohd Ali Majaz, expressed gratitude to the district administration and RPO Srinagar for launching the mobile van service in Kargil. He also urged that future editions of the initiative be extended to sub-divisional levels to ensure broader public benefit.
