Chief Justice Arun Palli inaugurates six legal aid clinics in remote areas of Ladakh

Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and Patron-in-Chief of the Ladakh Legal Services Authority, Justice Arun Palli, inaugurated six Legal Aid Clinics in remote areas of Ladakh on June 13 via virtual mode from the District Court Complex, Leh. The clinics have been set up in Hanle, Wanla, Baima, Saspol, Chuchot, and Sumoor to strengthen access to justice in far-flung regions.
Justice Sindhu Sharma, Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and Executive Chairperson of the Ladakh Legal Services Authority, also participated virtually, along with Judges from the High Court of Punjab and Haryana.
The event witnessed the presence of MK Sharma, Registrar General of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice; Anoop Kumar Sharma, Registrar IT (virtual mode); Manoj Parihar, Member Secretary, Ladakh Legal Services Authority and Principal District and Sessions Judge Leh; Tsewang Phuntsog, Chief Judicial Magistrate Leh; Phuntsog Angmo, Secretary DLSA/Special Mobile Magistrate Leh; Lakshay Badiyal, Munsiff Nubra; senior prosecuting officers; Mohd Shafi, President of the Bar Association, members of the Bar, panel lawyers, PLVs, and court staff.
In his address, Chief Justice Arun Palli lauded the Legal Services Authority for its efforts in delivering justice to the doorsteps of people residing in remote and scattered villages of Leh. He emphasized that the inauguration of these clinics marks a significant step toward ensuring justice for all, reiterating the judiciary's commitment to leaving no stone unturned in reaching every individual in need of legal assistance.
The Chief Justice also inspected the courts of the Principal District and Sessions Judge Leh, CJM Leh, and Special Mobile Magistrate. He visited the lawyers' chambers and interacted with Bar members, who shared their grievances. On-the-spot directions were issued for resolution. He also engaged in a fruitful discussion with judicial officers and staff, attentively hearing their concerns and assuring timely redressal.
