CEC Dr. Jaffer Akhoon meets Nanritam NGO delegation to explore educational reforms in Kargil

CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon held a meeting on August 4 with a delegation from Nanritam, an educational NGO working under the “Education for All” initiative to improve learning outcomes. Executive Councillor for Education, Kacho Mohd Feroz, was also present at the meeting.
The delegation was led by Ranjana Sengupta, General Secretary, and Sarada Namhata, Joint Secretary of Nanritam. They provided an overview of the NGO’s ongoing interventions in Leh and Kargil districts, which include teacher training workshops aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the implementation of the Holistic Progress Report Card (HPC).
Nanritam’s programmes have empowered numerous teachers from both government and private schools through modules that promote competency-based, child-centered education. The training sessions focus on strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy, especially in the early grades, and incorporate interactive techniques to simplify science and mathematics concepts. Additionally, the NGO provides health support for school children, especially those suffering from anemia and vision-related issues, by identifying root causes and offering medical assistance.
Dr. Akhoon praised Nanritam’s work and acknowledged the challenges arising from the transition from JKBOSE to CBSE, emphasizing the need to strengthen students’ foundational learning. He reiterated that LAHDC Kargil, in collaboration with the UT Administration of Ladakh, is committed to improving the quality of education and ensuring students are adequately prepared for the new academic framework.
He assured the delegation that Nanritam’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be reviewed in consultation with relevant stakeholders to assess its potential for broader implementation across the district.
“We hope to work closely with Nanritam to identify core issues and implement effective solutions to improve learning outcomes in Kargil,” he stated.
Executive Councillor Kacho Mohd Feroz also appreciated the initiative and expressed the Council’s willingness to extend all necessary support for future collaborations.
