ACD Leh chairs review meeting with National Monitors on Rural Development schemes

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Leh, A.G. Zargar, chaired a comprehensive review meeting with National Level Monitors (NLMs) Amrendra Kumar and Rakesh Kumar Verma on August 6. The NLMs are appointed by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, to assess the implementation of key rural development schemes.

The meeting was attended by Block Development Officers of Chuchot, Kharu, and Skurbuchan blocks; officials from the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP)Leh; the District Programme Manager of NRLM Leh; and representatives from the Revenue and Social Welfare Departments, along with Panchayat Inspectors and Secretaries.

The monitors are currently on an official tour of Leh district, evaluating the performance of various flagship rural development schemes, including: MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act); PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana); PMAY-G (Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin); IWMP (Integrated Watershed Management Programme); NRLM (National Rural Livelihood Mission); NSAP(National Social Assistance Programme), among others.

Discussions during the meeting focused on the progress, achievements, and challenges faced in implementing these schemes. Emphasis was also laid on the role of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs)  in facilitating effective grassroots-level execution and ensuring community participation.

ACD Zargar welcomed the monitoring visit and assured full transparency and cooperation. He stressed the importance of such evaluations in enhancing  accountability, identifying gaps, and improving service delivery to rural communities.
