In a significant step toward improving mobility and inclusion, the District Social & Tribal Welfare Department, Leh, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Mohali, and the Power Finance Corporation (PFC), organized a Motorized Tricycles Distribution Camp at Nari Niketan, Ibex Colony, Leh.

The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Leh, Romil Singh Donk (IAS) as the Chief Guest, with Ali Shah, Executive Director of PFC, serving as the Guest of Honour.

A total of 45 motorized tricycles were distributed to eligible beneficiaries aged 16 and above with over 60% disability. Each tricycle can travel approximately 42–45 km on a single charge, making them especially beneficial for navigating Ladakh’s challenging terrain. The total value of the distributed tricycles amounted to ₹27 lakh.

In his address, DC Romil Singh Donk commended the initiative and urged ALIMCO to ensure timely servicing and maintenance support for the beneficiaries. He encouraged recipients to reach out to the administration for any further assistance or support.

Suresh Kumar Naidu, General Chief Manager of PFC, highlighted the initiative as part of PFC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. He appreciated the groundwork done to identify deserving beneficiaries in Ladakh’s remote and difficult environment.

Ishwinder Singh, ALIMCO representative, conducted a practical demonstration on the safe usage and maintenance of the tricycles, ensuring that the recipients are well-informed about their new mobility aids.

The event concluded with the formal handover of the tricycles, marking a meaningful step toward empowering persons with disabilities and promoting inclusive development in the region.
