A three-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Program was successfully conducted on June 10–12 at the Anjuman-e-Imamia Women’s Wing Centre as part of the ongoing ‘Enterprising Ladakh’ initiative. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from across the region, with over 50 women showing strong entrepreneurial aspirations.

The program is a flagship component of Enterprising Ladakh, a pioneering initiative launched by the Department of Higher Education, UT Administration of Ladakh, in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad. It aims to nurture, mentor, and empower the youth and aspiring entrepreneurs of Ladakh, particularly local communities, to build sustainable livelihood opportunities.

During the three-day event, participants engaged in interactive sessions covering fundamentals of entrepreneurship, opportunity identification, idea validation, product branding, packaging, and market linkages — all with a focus on self-reliance. Experienced trainers and facilitators shared success stories and practical insights to help participants reflect on their entrepreneurial journeys.

The program also aimed to strengthen grassroots women’s networks and enhance their readiness for enterprise creation by promoting a deeper understanding of business development, resource management, and collaborative growth.

Following the awareness program, a screening process will identify motivated individuals for the next phase — a five-day intensive training. This upcoming program will offer hands-on learning in enterprise skills, product design and development, eco-friendly packaging, branding, and marketing strategies tailored for local, national, and global markets.

Trainers Asiya Tabassum (LRLM), Stanzin Rabgais (Graphic Designer/Photographer), Abhishake Nandan, and Fariha Fatima from EDII led the sessions and actively engaged with participants. Nasreen Mariyam, President of the Anjuman-e-Imamia Women’s Wing Centre, facilitated the event and extended support to both participants and trainers.

Through this multi-tiered initiative, Enterprising Ladakh aims to lay the foundation for women-led micro and small enterprises, contributing to economic empowerment and community development across the Union Territory.
