The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Srinagar Bench commenced its fourth Circuit Sitting in Kargil on August 4 at the Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC), Baroo. A total of 22 cases were listed for hearing on the opening day.

The Bench is presided over by Judicial Member D.S. Mahra and Administrative Member Prashant Kumar. The sitting aims to provide government employees and pensioners of the Union Territory of Ladakh with easier access to judicial remedies for service-related matters, reinforcing the Tribunal’s commitment to accessible and decentralized justice.

Proceedings are being conducted in hybrid mode—both physical and virtual—enabling participation from litigants even in far-flung and remote areas. The Circuit Sitting will continue for three consecutive days, from August 5 -7.

This initiative reflects a broader effort to bridge the gap between citizens and the justice system, particularly in geographically sensitive regions like Ladakh. Ensuring access to justice is fundamental, and such circuit sittings underscore the importance of making legal redressal timely and inclusive for all.
