15-day ‘Dharti Aabha Janbhagidari Abhiyan’ campaign kicks off in Kargil

A 15-day awareness campaign under the ‘Dharti Aabha Janbhagidari Abhiyan’ began in Kargil with an inaugural event held at Syed Mehdi Memorial Auditorium Hall on June 15. The campaign, which will run until June 30, aims to enhance grassroots participation in government welfare schemes, particularly those targeting women’s empowerment and tribal development.

The inaugural programme was attended by Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohammad Feroz; District Programme Officer, ICDS Kargil; District Social Welfare Officer; CDPOs; Anganwadi Supervisors and Workers; and members of the general public.

In his address, EC Kacho Mohammad Feroz praised the Government of India’s efforts toward uplifting women and marginalized communities. He stressed the importance of popularizing these schemes through various platforms to ensure wider outreach and greater impact. He also assured full support from LAHDC Kargil and committed to incorporating gender budgeting provisions in the upcoming financial plan.

As part of the event, mobile phones were distributed to Anganwadi workers to support their fieldwork.

Earlier, Amina Banoo, Gender Specialist with Mission Shakti, gave a detailed presentation on key initiatives such as the District Hub for Women Empowerment and the One Stop Centre (OSC) for women in distress.

Manzoor Hussain, Financial Expert, Mission Shakti, elaborated on various social welfare schemes under the Dharti Aabha campaign. He highlighted efforts including electrification of remote tribal areas, improved internet connectivity, and other critical interventions. He noted that the campaign is being carried out under the aegis of 17 central ministries with an emphasis on household-level outreach.

District Coordinator, Mission Poshan, Syed Tayoub Shah, and Social Worker Mohammad Hassanain also shared informative presentations on schemes related to nutritional security and social welfare.
