Ladakh bags gold, silver medals in 7th National Icestock Sports Championship

Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Ravinder Kumar felicitated the ice stock players from Ladakh on March 10 who recently took part in the 7th Ice Stock Sports Games at Gulmarg.

The girls' team comprising Nusrat Fatima, Farhana Eliyaz, Deachen Dolkar, and Zahida Bano won gold whereas the boys' team, including Dorjay Namgyal, Adnand Tarik, Ahsan Ali, and Stanzin Phuntsog claimed silver. Shahnaz Parveen accompanied the team as the coach.

Secretary Sports congratulated and appreciated the spirit and enthusiasm of the players from Ladakh for bringing laurels to the region with their award-winning performances. He informed the players that the UT Administration is committed to promote sports by establishing Khelo India centres and creating state-of-the-art sports infrastructures such as multi-purpose stadiums, gymnasiums, synthetic track, Astroturf for football, and ice-hockey rinks.

He added sports stadium would be constructed in primary, middle, and higher secondary schools, and the latest sports equipment would be purchased to both the districts of UT Ladakh.
