3rd Ladakh Ice- Climbing festival concludes

During the concluding day of the 3rd Ice climbing festival in Gangles, Leh.

The third edition of the Ladakh Ice-Climbing festival organised by the Ladakh Mountain Guide Association was concluded on March 5 in Gangles.

Chief Guest of the occasion, Tashi Gyalson, CEC, Hill Council, Leh praised the entire organising team for the initiative in creating the artificial glacier, promoting and encouraging the youth of Leh to participate in such winter adventure sports. He highlighted the importance of artificial glaciers for the sustainability of Ladakh’s fragile ecosystem and added that this sport has the potential to boost winter tourism in Ladakh.

CEC said that LAHDC Leh would extend all possible support in the promotion of winter sport throughout the region.

All the supporters and the organising team were felicitated by CEC Tashi Gyalson.

President, Ladakh Mountain Guide Association highlighted the motive behind organising such adventure sports.

Talking about the contribution of LMGA in organising the Ice-climbing festival, he said that such activities will also create opportunities in the future career-wise. He also spoke on the requirement of travel insurance for mountaineering and hiking expeditions. He said that the idea brings forth the aim to promote winter tourism in Ladakh and the need for nurturing more young talents from Ladakh in winter adventure sports.
