Secretary Shashanka Ala reviews progress of Girls’ and Working Women’s Hostels

Administrative Secretary of the Social & Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh, Shashanka Ala chaired a review meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Leh, on May 19 to assess the progress of Girls’ Hostels and Working Women’s Hostels being executed by the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

The Executive Director of NHIDCL presented an overview of the ongoing construction of 300-bedded hostel projects.

During the meeting, Secretary Ala reviewed the ongoing and proposed hostel project status. She emphasized the need for timely completion to enhance access to education and employment opportunities for women, especially those from remote and underserved areas.

She instructed the concerned officials to resolve all pending issues on a priority basis and to expedite administrative and technical processes to prevent any delays.

The meeting also discussed issues related to water and electricity supply for Old Age Homes, as well as electricity connectivity for Anganwadi Centres.

The meeting was attended by the Director, Social & Tribal Welfare Department; Chief Engineers of PWD and CPWD Ladakh; Executive Director, NHIDCL; Assistant Director, Planning; and Executive Engineers from PHE, PDD, and the Rural Engineering Wing.
