DRASS :

Justice Mohammad Yousuf Wani, Judge of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Administrative Judge for District Kargil, visited the newly constructed court complex at Drass on August 26.

He was accompanied by Spalzes Angmo, Principal District & Sessions Judge Kargil; Chemit Yurgyal, Secretary (DLSA) Kargil; Sadiq Ali Wazir, Munsiff Drass; and engineers from the PWD.

During the visit, Justice Wani suggested the need for additional courtrooms in the complex, noting that only one exists at present. He underlined the importance of this, especially in view of the proposal for Drass to be made a separate district. He also expressed satisfaction that Munsiff Courts of similar scale are being constructed at the sub-divisions of Sankoo and Zanskar.

Later, he inspected the existing court building at Drass, reviewing both civil and criminal case files. He directed the judicial officers to make every effort to dispose of old cases promptly, taking advantage of the comparatively low pendency in Kargil courts.

Justice Wani also paid a visit to the Kargil War Memorial at Drass, where he paid homage to the martyrs by showering flower petals at the Amar Jawan Jyoti. He interacted with Army personnel stationed there, lauding their dedication in harsh high-altitude conditions and conveying his best wishes for their service and future.
