CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon met with a delegation from Biamathang Upper Colony on June 11 to discuss ongoing water-related issues affecting the area.

The delegation apprised the CEC of the persistent water crisis in their locality and urged him to take immediate steps, in coordination with the concerned departments, to resolve the issue.

Dr. Akhoon gave a patient hearing and acknowledged the gravity of the problem, remarking that water scarcity is a global concern and that Kargil is also facing its share of challenges.

He assured the delegation that every possible measure would be taken to mitigate the problem. Emphasizing the commitment of both the Hill Council and

District Administration, he reiterated their resolve to ensure water access at the doorstep of every citizen.

While noting that financial resources are now less of a constraint, Dr. Akhoon pointed out that the primary obstacles lie in overcoming local and technical challenges. He stressed the importance of mutual cooperation and community support in developing sustainable solutions.

The CEC further informed the delegation that water is being supplied through various channels, including tankers, lift irrigation projects, and pipelines. However, he acknowledged the difficulty in reaching every household and reaffirmed that addressing water scarcity remains a top priority for LAHDC Kargil.

The delegation also submitted a memorandum outlining specific issues and demands related to the ongoing water crisis in Biamathang Upper Colony.
In a prompt response, Dr. Akhoon contacted the concerned officer during the meeting. The officer assured full cooperation and explained that certain technical and local challenges were affecting water distribution. He further assured the CEC that necessary actions would be taken at the earliest to resolve the issue.
