DC Leh chairs meeting on ROW issues for 66KV transmission line under RDSS scheme

Deputy Commissioner Leh, Romil Singh Donk, convened a meeting to review Right of Way (ROW) issues related to the construction of the 66KV D/C Kharu-Tangtse, 66KV D/C Tangtse-Phobrang, 66KV D/C Kiya-Chumathang, and 66KV D/C Chumathang-Korzok transmission lines under the RDSS Scheme. The meeting was held at the VC Room of the DC Office, Leh.

DC Leh directed officers to share the challenges encountered in executing the project. Officials highlighted issues concerning land alignment, forest clearances, wildlife, and other operational matters. The DC assured that SDMs and Tehsildars would extend full assistance in addressing these issues and instructed departments to submit the necessary guidelines. He emphasized the importance of regular updates from all officers to ensure the project progresses smoothly.

Following this, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Leh, Shabir Hussain, presided over the meeting. He reiterated that the project must be expedited in the public interest and directed SDMs and concerned officers to finalize land alignment details. He further instructed them to provide information on private landholdings to the respective agencies so that coordination with landowners can be streamlined. Stressing the urgency, he called for the early settlement of tower locations.

The meeting concluded with a strong call for inter-departmental coordination and timely resolution of ROW issues to enable the early completion of the transmission line project, which is crucial for strengthening Ladakh’s power infrastructure and ensuring reliable electricity supply to remote areas.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Divisional Forest Officer Leh, SDMs of Durbuk, Kharu, and Nyoma, Executive Engineers of PDD and STD PDD Leh, Executive Engineer (Project Division, PDD Leh), and the Chief Manager, PGCIL Leh.
