UT Ladakh U-17 Karate team flagged off for 69th National School Games

Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon on January 27 flagged off the UT Ladakh Under-17 Karate Team (boys and girls) for their participation in the 69th National School Games, scheduled to be held in Pune, Maharashtra.

The team has been deputed by the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh through the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSSO), UT Ladakh. A total of 10 athletes—comprising four boys and six girls—will represent UT Ladakh in the prestigious national-level championship.

Interacting with the players, the CEC encouraged the young athletes and expressed confidence that they would bring laurels to Ladakh. He emphasized that participation in national-level events provides valuable exposure over an 8–10 day period, helping students gain competitive experience, discipline, and self-confidence.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by officials from the Department of Youth Services and Sports, including Ghulam Mohammad, Activities In-Charge, YSS Kargil; Mohd Ibrahim Shoqi, In-Charge ZPEO Kargil; and Mohd Hassan, Physical Education Master (PEM) and organiser, YSS Kargil.
