Two-day cyber resilience & AI workshop begins in Kargil
The Information Technology Department, Union Territory of Ladakh, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), on January 19, inaugurated a two-day Cyber Resilience and AI Workshop at the Conference Hall, Baroo, Kargil. The workshop aims to strengthen cyber awareness and enhance the operational preparedness of police personnel of the Kargil Police Department.
Notably, this is the first workshop organised by the IT Department since the formation of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The workshop was inaugurated by Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Nitin Yadav, IPS, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest and felicitated the resource persons on the occasion. Highlighting the growing challenges posed by cybercrime, the SSP emphasised the need to equip police personnel with updated knowledge, skills, and practical tools to effectively counter emerging cyber threats.
The event was attended by Dr. Sanjat Bhardwaj, Under Secretary, IT Department; Akshita Krishna, Consultant, MeitY; Ishtiyaq, Project Manager (IT); Dorjay Gyalson, IT Assistant; along with distinguished resource persons Samrat Kishor, Gaurav Atrey, Anil Sain, and Sandeep Mudalkar.
At the outset, Dr. Sanjat Bhardwaj welcomed the participating police officers and briefed them on the objectives and structure of the workshop, underlining the importance of cyber resilience in modern policing and internal security.
During the technical session, Samrat Kishor, Practice Head – Digital Infrastructure and Cybersecurity, delivered an insightful presentation on emerging cyber threats, cyber warfare dynamics, hybrid and cross-border attacks, deepfake technologies, corporate cyber risks, and the use of various open-source tools that can be effectively utilised by police personnel during investigations and operations.
The two-day workshop aims to build the capacity of police officers to address cyber challenges through expert interactions, knowledge sharing, and hands-on exposure, thereby strengthening cyber resilience in the region.
At the conclusion of the session, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kacho Ishtiyaq, attended the programme and expressed appreciation for organising such a timely and relevant workshop.
