Judicial inquiry commission appeals for public evidence on September 24 Leh incident
The Judicial Inquiry Commission convened a press briefing at the ADR Centre, Melongthang, Leh, on November 6. The session was addressed by Tushar Anand, Administrative Secretary to the Commission, and Rigzin Spalgon, Joint Secretary, who urged the public to submit any evidence related to the law-and-order incident that took place in Leh on September 24, 2025.
Officials informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs has constituted a Judicial Inquiry Commission under the chairmanship of Dr. Justice B.S. Chauhan, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, to conduct a fair and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
They further stated that Mohan Singh Parihar has been appointed as Judicial Secretary to the Inquiry Commission, Tushar Anand as Administrative Secretary, and Rigzin Spalgon as Joint Secretary.
The Commission formally commenced its proceedings on October 27, followed by the issuance of a public notice on October 28, inviting individuals, organisations, and witnesses to provide oral, written, or electronic evidence related to the incident. Submissions may be made at the ADR Centre, New Court Complex, Melongthang, Leh, until November 28.
To ensure wider public participation, the Commission published the notice in Ladakhi and Urdu languages, enabling accessibility for citizens from all communities.
The Judicial Inquiry Commission reiterated its appeal for public cooperation and urged all those with relevant information or evidence to come forward by the November 28 deadline to aid the ongoing investigation.
