Heritage kitchen inaugurated at Rizong Gonpa

 The heritage kitchen of Rizong monastery was inaugurated by Gyal.P Wangyal, CEC Hill Council, Leh on November 13.
 
The renovation of old dilapidated traditional kitchen was taken in hand by Leh Development Authority spending ₹35 Lakhs under tourism promotion scheme and voluntarily worked by the INTACH Ladakh Chapter.
 
Gyal.P Wangyal appreciated the teamwork of Tsering Sangdup, Deputy Chairman, Dr. Zahida Bano and INTACH for yielding a remarkable result in bringing back the kitchen in service without harming its age-old structure. He said that Hill Council is further committed to undertake similar projects at needy places with proper identification in the near future.
 
He further said that in UT Ladakh, a bigger responsibility is on Hill Council and people of Ladakh in preserving and promoting our traditional identity and heritage values.
 
Talking about the project, Tsering Sandup said that it was conceptualized in 2016 under the head of late Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo and expressed pleasure that the project has completed with tireless efforts put in by Dr. Zahida Bano.
 
Dr. Zahida Bano, ADC Leh was felicitated for bringing up the heritage kitchen in its conventional form.
 
Geshe Thupstan Rinchen highlighted the history of Rizong Gonpa and extended gratitude to each and everyone who contributed for the project.
