Government Primary School Chuchot upgraded to ‘Ladakh Model School’
In a significant step toward strengthening the education ecosystem in rural areas, Government Primary School Basgorong, Chuchot, was formally upgraded to Ladakh Model School Chuchot on December 8.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Secretary, School Education Department, UT Ladakh, Bhanu Prabha, along with Director, School Education, Tashi Dolma. Senior officers including the DEPO and ZEPO, school staff, students, parents, and community representatives were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary Bhanu Prabha congratulated the school community on the establishment of the Model School, noting that the initiative marks an important milestone for the Chuchot area. She emphasized that while infrastructure and facilities form the foundation of a Model School, its true strength lies in active community involvement.
Highlighting the shared responsibility in shaping young learners, she stated that the commitment of students and parents plays an equally vital role in transforming the school into a benchmark for quality education. She further assured the Administration’s continued support in providing resources, training, and guidance to help the school achieve its objectives.
The Secretary also stressed the importance of developing an ideal Model Bal Vatika class, underscoring that strong foundational learning during early childhood is crucial for long-term academic success. She encouraged teachers to adopt child-centred, activity-based methods to nurture curiosity, creativity, and confidence among the youngest learners.
During the programme, the dignitaries took a comprehensive tour of the school premises, inspecting classrooms and reviewing the upgraded facilities under the Model School framework. They interacted with students, encouraging them to make the best use of the improved learning environment and motivating them to pursue their studies with dedication.
As a gesture of support and to mark the beginning of their academic journey, the dignitaries also felicitated newly enrolled students with school bags—an effort aimed at inspiring confidence among young learners and promoting enthusiasm for schooling within the community.
The School Education Department reaffirmed its commitment to improving student learning outcomes by enhancing infrastructure and deputing qualified and trained teachers.
