Councillors from Changthang meet GOC, 14 Corps, Leh Discuss issues faced by the nomads living in border areas

Lt General Harinder Singh, GOC 14 Corps, Executive Councillor, Konchok Stanzin along with Councilor Korzok Gyurmet Dorjey and Councilor Nyoma Thupstan Wangchuk during a meeting on border issues.

Strengthening of civil army relationship on the borders of Changthang was discussed by members of Hill Council, Leh in a meeting with Lt General Harinder Singh, GOC 14 Corps on December 31.
 
Executive Councillor, Konchok Stanzin along with Councilor Korzok Gyurmet Dorjey and Councilor Nyoma Thupstan Wangchuk were present.
 
Talking about the problems faced by the nomads during migration with their livestock to their ancestral pastureland, Lt General Harinder Singh assured to appoint army liaison officers who will coordinate with nomads during migration in the future.
 
Konchok Stanzin requested GOC for sharing of army OFC for installation of mobile towers in borders areas of Changthang so that people living in borders areas could also get the facilities of mobile services. Also, he requested for an Ice Hockey rink at Tangtse and Nyoma under Sadbhavna programme. 
 
Other agenda discussed were support of the army in strengthening govt. schools in border villages of Changthang, revival of Women Empowerment Centers by the army in border villages and reservation in the recruitment of unemployed youths living in border areas in the army and other army jobs.
 
Gurmet Dorjey and Thupstan Wangchuk also highlighted the problems and issues of nomad people living on the borders of Demjok and Chumoor.
 
Discussing all demands and issues, GOC assured to give due consideration for all genuine demands.
