The Cooperative Department of the Union Territory of Ladakh organised a three-day training programme on the Registrar Cooperative Societies (RCS) Portal from January 1 to 3 at the DC Conference Hall, Leh.

The training was conducted as part of an initiative to strengthen cooperatives through IT intervention, with the objective of enhancing digital governance and expediting cooperative administration in the Union Territory.

The programme was conducted by Velosis Pvt. Ltd., the project vendor for the RCS Portal. The sessions featured detailed, module-wise demonstrations along with extensive hands-on practical training. The primary aim was to familiarise officers and officials of the Cooperative Department with the operational, administrative, and regulatory modules of the RCS Portal, while also addressing practical challenges likely to arise during its implementation.

The programme was attended by Dr. Sarwar Shahzad, Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Kargil; the District Audit Officer, Leh; Assistant Registrars, Auditors, Inspectors, Supervisors, and other ministerial staff of the Cooperative Department.

Over the three days, various modules of the RCS Portal were discussed and demonstrated in detail. Participants actively interacted with the vendor, sharing valuable feedback, suggestions, and observations based on their field experience and legal requirements.

Module-wise inputs were carefully collected, examined, and documented to ensure alignment with the provisions of the relevant Cooperative Acts and departmental procedures.

On the final day, officers and vendor representatives jointly reviewed all feedback and proposed modifications to the portal. It was decided to incorporate necessary changes to enhance the portal’s usability, accuracy, and statutory compliance. The hands-on sessions enabled participants to practically test the portal and build confidence in its effective operation.

At the conclusion of the programme, officers and officials expressed satisfaction with the training and appreciated that their inputs and recommendations were duly considered. It was unanimously agreed that the RCS Portal would be launched after incorporating all suggestions and required modifications.

The successful completion of the training programme is expected to significantly enhance efficiency, transparency, and service delivery within the Cooperative Department. It also marks an important milestone in the digitisation of cooperative services in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Once the RCS Portal goes live, all procedures related to the registration and administration of cooperative societies will be carried out exclusively through the online platform.
