CEC meets NHPC engineers over power issues

A meeting on the power supply and current power generation status from Alchi and Chutuk NHPC Hydel projects was convened by Gyal P Wangyal, CEC, Hill Council, Leh on January 6 at Council Secretariat.

NHPC Engineers headed by Executive Director/Regional Head NHPC Jammu J.R Chaudhary;  General Manager NHPC Leh  and Kargil, P.P Singh and Bedi Ram were present.

Engineers informed that at present Alchi Hydel Project generates 24 to 26 MW while as Chutuk Hydel Project is generating 10 to 12 MW.  10 MW is drawn from Northern Grid for UT Ladakh. 

They also informed that due to weak cable lines between Alusteng and Zenacot of 220 KV Srinagar –Leh Northern Grid, the region is not getting required power backup.

Gyal P Wangyal directed NHPC engineers to complete the ongoing transmission lines of Rumbak valley and Hemya and also the feeders of Khaltse being executed by NHPC Leh under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana on priority so that this area could be electrified as soon as possible.
