Anti-encroachment, traffic enforcement drive continues in Kargil town
In continuation of the ongoing anti-encroachment drive carried out under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, an enforcement drive was conducted on January 6 in Kargil town along the stretch from Iqbal Bridge to the Petrol Pump via Andoh.
The drive was jointly carried out by the Tehsildar Kargil, Naib Tehsildar Kargil, Station House Officer, Police Station Kargil, Municipal Committee (MC) Kargil, and the Traffic Police Kargil. The primary objective of the drive was to remove unauthorized encroachments from public roads and footpaths and to ensure smooth traffic movement and public safety.
During the drive, one illegal structure erected on the road was demolished. Additionally, as part of the observance of District Road Safety Month, the Traffic Police Kargil undertook strict enforcement measures. As a result, three compound challans and 15 sticker challans were issued, and one vehicle was lifted for wrong parking along the roadside.
The district administration once again appealed to the general public and shopkeepers to refrain from encroaching upon public spaces and to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations. It was reiterated that such drives will continue in the larger interest of road safety, pedestrian convenience, and the orderly management of traffic in Kargil town.
