25 farmers on week-long exposure tour to Uttarakhand

The first batch of 25 progressive farmers was flagged off for a week-long exposure tour to Uttrakhand under Mission Organic Development Initiative (MODI) of Hill Council, Leh on January 18.

Phuntsog Stanzin, EC, Agriculture & Environment flagged off the tour. 

Congratulating the progressive farmers, Phuntsog Stanzin urged them to make their tour meaningful by gathering maximum knowledge and know-how in organic farming. 

He said that after assessing the benefits of this tour, the upcoming exposure tours will be designed by Hill Council, Leh.

Tashi Tsetan, Chief Agriculture Officer Leh said that the farmers will visit Uttrakhand State Organic Farms, progressive farmer’s fields and will study best practice of organic farming methods and technologies. 

To ensure this exposure tour fruitful, the biodata and contacts of farmers will remain with Agriculture department Leh and after analyzing their feedbacks they will be used as resource persons to give further training to the farmers of UT Ladakh in organic farming.

Officers of the Agriculture Department, Leh also gave valuable tips to the farmers to make their tour more meaningful.
