Play staged on corruption on world theatre day in Leh

 A play on the theme 'Evil Corruption' (Nad-ngan Phagsub) was showcased at Lotsava Auditorium on March 27 to mark world theatre day. 

The trainees who attained 15 days theatre workshop staged a play on “Nad-ngan Phagsub” or Evil corruption on the day.

Four day Ladakh Festival 2016 concludes
Deputy CM Nirmal Singh inaugurates main market under Leh beautification project

LEH: The four-day long Ladakh Festival 2016 started with a colourful cultural procession from Karzoo to Polo ground, Leh on September 20.  The new face of Leh main market completed under the Leh Beautification project was inaugurated by Deputy CM, Dr. Nirmal Singh.
Minister for Ladakh Affairs & Cooperatives Chhering Dorjey, CEC, Dr. Sonam Dawa, MLA, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Executive Councilors, Councilors and district officers headed by DC, Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy G were also present.
The festival is being organized annually by the J&K Tourism Department, in association with local stakeholders, communities and district administrations of Leh.   During the four-day festival music concerts, mask dances, Handicraft and Food Stall exhibition, archery competition, Polo matches and Thanka exhibitions are showcased.
Minister for Ladakh Affairs & Cooperatives, Chhering Dorjey talked about the rich culture and tradition, the landscapes, monasteries and the friendly loving nature of the people of Ladakh which attracts thousands of tourists every year from different parts of the world. 
Welcoming all the guest and tourist, CEC, Dr. Sonam Dawa talked about the growth of tourism sector over the years. He said when Ladakh was first opened for tourism in 1974 only 500 tourists visited and at present, we have around 2, 20,000 tourist till date.  Talking about the scope opportunities of propagating tourism he talked about the plans to explore the different potential of Ladakh region to extend the tourist visiting season.
He talked about the winter sports which has attracted tourism in peak winter season.
Expressing gratitude and happiness to be part of the festival, Director Principal General, Information, and Broadcasting, Neelam Kapoor admired the rich culture and tradition of Ladakh.
Artist from different regions of Ladakh and Song & Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting presented spectacular cultural programmes. 
Chairman, Organizing Committee of Ladakh Festival, DC, Prasanna Ramaswamy G gave the vote of thanks.
