Lhabab Chorten dedicated to Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche consecrated in Tanyar, Nubra

The village community of Tangyar in collaboration with Regional Educational Cultural Development organization Tangyar (RECDOT) built a Lhabab Chorten (The stupa represents Buddha's descent from the celestial realms, Tushita Heaven in order to continue teaching the path to enlightenment) dedicated to Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche as part of the centenary celebration.
The construction of the stupa was done with support from Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation (HCHF) Leh and commissioned by the stupa experts, Tsewang Phuntsog and Tsetan Mutup.

 The consecration of the stupa was performed by the monks (Lama Uchos) from Spituk, Samkar, Stok and Saboo monasteries on October 25. 

The consecration ceremony was followed by a grand function, presided by the Chogzhi Lama Ven. Lobzang Tsering and  Tsering Angchuk, Councillor, Diskit constituency who attended the function as the guest of honour. 

Thinless Nurboo, Secretary RECDOT said, “The Lhabab Chorten was built in memory of Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche and his immense contribution to Ladakh in different fields”.
He thanked HCHF, villagers of Tangyar and all who have contributed to the construction of the stupa.
Tsering Angchuk, Councillor Diskit highlighted the efforts and endeavors of Bakula Rinpoche in opening schools in every nook and corner of Ladakh. He appealed villages to strengthen and support Government schools in their respective villages as a mark of respect for Bakula Rinpoche and his contributions in the field of education in Ladakh. 

Dr. Sonam Wangchok, founder/secretary HCHF stated that HCHF has been working extensively in the field of cultural preservation in Ladakh for last several years.
“This time we are supporting a new stupa in order to do a detailed documentation of stupa building, its contents (Zung) and rituals associated with it under the project Audio-Visual recording/documentation/archiving of the traditional materials relating to Buddhist art and culture for preservation and dissemination, funded by Ministry of Culture, Government of India”, said Dr. Wangchok. 

He also highlighted the significance and the history of the particular place where the stupa was built and said that HCHF will come up with a documentary film on stupa building that will also be dedicated to the centenary of Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche.

Earlier, Ven. Lobzang Tsering, Gen Lobzang Angchuk Khamba, Nurboo Spon, Master Angchuk and Tsewang Dorjey, member Tangyar also delivered speeches on life and contributions of Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche.

Cultural programme and an archery competition were also organised during the occasion.
