320 cadets participated in NCC annual training camp

LEH:
A-10-day combined annual training camp for NCC cadet’s boys and girls from Leh and Kargil districts started from 10 July was concluded on July 20 at SSK Sindhu Sanskriti Hall.

Nearly, 320 NCC cadets from 16 Educational Institutions across Leh, Nubra, Kargil, and Drass participated.

Lt. Col PN Prassanan, SM1 J&K independent company NCC Leh said, “Our aim is to to make the students a better citizen of the nation by imparting institutional training. It is a mix of military and NCC oriented subjects. We impart practical training in the parade, rifle shooting, rifle drill, cultural dances etc.” 

Talking about the mountaineering expeditions, he said that the history was created in Ladakh when the girls from Ladakh scaled world’s highest peak. 

Dechen Chuskit, NCC cadet from girls High Secondary School said, “It exposes us to a `regimental way of life’, which is fundamental to inculcate the values of discipline, duty, etc. It develops an interest to join NCC camps in future as it provides an element of adventure and enjoyment.” 

The programme concluded with the cultural performance by various schools of Leh and Kargil district.
