Leh Bandh Continues For The Third Day
Tourists are worst sufferers

Leh, Sunday, June 14, 2009 :
Leh town wore a deserted look for third day today due to complete bandh called by Ladakh Merchant Association to protest against the imposition of VAT in the region.
President Sonam Jorgyes said, " Leh bandh is being observed to pressurize the State Govt. to implement its decision of relaxation in case of Ladakh regarding imposing of VAT from 2005 to 2008 to the traders of Ladakh." |

"Its my good luck to come to this land and get the chance to see Sindhu Darshan", expressed Omar Abdullah Hon'ble Chief Minister of J & K on the auspicious occasion of Sindhu Darshan commenced today at Sindhu Ghat in Shey Manla. The festival of Sindhu Darshan or Ladakh Singey Khababs Spring Festival is celebrated every year for three consecutive days in the month of June at Shey Manla in Leh district as a devotion to the piousness of the Indus River. |

As per LAHDC Act. CEC, LAHDC, Leh Tsering Dorje allotted portfolios to the three newly inducted Executive Councillors with Agriculture going to Phunchok Stanzin, Education to Dorje Stanzin and Tsering Angchuk got the Health sector. |

Tourist influx steadily increasing: CEC

In the last two years the number of domestic tourists visiting Ladakh increased considerably. This was revealed recently in a meeting presided over by CEC, LAHDC Leh Tsering Dorjey. |
